About GBCA
Our Mission
GBCA is a nonprofit organization advancing equity and opportunity in, through, and for arts and culture in Greater Baltimore region.
Our Vision
Artists and arts, cultural, and humanities organizations are valued as :
- Essential to Baltimore’s social fabric and human spirit;
- For their contributions to equitable education, the economy, and opportunity;
- Problem-solving partners to government and business;
- For both their intrinsic value and their power to drive change.
Our history
1998
Since its launch, GBCA has acted as both a catalyst and an incubator for significant programs and initiatives. The organization promotes the cultural community and helps build awareness and audiences through resources such as the Culture Fly event calendar, weekly discount and free ticket promotions, JobsPlus, and its weekly community newsletter.
Since 2008, GBCA has managed the website and awards program for the Baker Artists Awards on behalf of the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund. This innovative platform has attracted thousands of viewers worldwide and awarded more than $1 million to area artists.
GBCA Cultural Equity Statement
The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance is committed to fairness and to honoring the contributions of people from all backgrounds. Cultural equity, for us, means upholding values, policies, and practices that ensure all people—including those historically underrepresented by race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are fully included in shaping arts and culture. This includes equitable support for artists, accessible and vibrant spaces for expression, and fair distribution of programmatic, financial, and informational resources.
